# About xaround

xaround is a free social app for university and college communities, on iOS and Android, made by S Rank Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia. Students post and reply anonymously while their Verified Student or Verified Alumni badge stays visible, so an anonymous post still shows that it came from someone on that campus.

## The problem with campus confession pages

Most campuses talk through confession pages: a Facebook Page or Telegram channel run by student volunteers, with a Google Form for anonymous submissions. They work until they don't.

- When the admins graduate, the page goes quiet or disappears, and years of posts go with it.
- Every submission waits for a volunteer to read it, so a question can sit in the queue for days.
- Each confession goes up as a new post, and the replies to it end up scattered across comments and follow-up posts.
- An anonymous submitter can't show they belong to the campus, so readers can't tell a student from anyone else.

## How xaround works

- **Communities that outlast their admins.** Campus communities are for universities and colleges, and Circle communities are for shared interests. A community stays when its moderators graduate.
- **Anonymous, with a badge.** Any post or reply can be anonymous. The author's identity is used only to check the submission and is never stored with the content, while their verification badge stays visible.
- **Posts go up instantly.** An AI moderator screens text and photos 24/7, so those posts never wait in a review queue.
- **One thread per post.** Anonymous and named replies stay attached to the post they answer, and replies are ranked by how relevant and useful they are, not only by when they arrived. xaround Premium subscribers' named replies get a small head start; anonymous replies never do.
- **Verification per community.** Each community's moderators verify members as Verified Student or Verified Alumni.
- **Open to anyone.** Anyone can sign up and explore any campus. The badge is what marks a real student or alumnus.

## Who makes xaround

I'm Nik Fikri, a Software Engineering graduate of Sunway University in Malaysia, and I started xaround there. The first version, released in 2021, was a proof of concept. xaround v2, released in 2026, is the full product.

I built xaround because I believe campuses deserve better than a Google Form and a volunteer's spare time. It's the platform I wish had existed during my university years, and it wasn't possible before large language models: letting anyone post anonymously and instantly is only safe when every post is screened the moment it goes up, at any hour.

xaround is built and run by S Rank Sdn. Bhd., a software company in Malaysia, company number 202501046409 (1647817-H).
